Grandfriends
We are very proud to be linked with the charity Grandfriends. The aim of Grandfriends is to develop intergenerational connections and friendships making our community more connected.
Our Grandfriends come into school to help us in lots of ways: on a Friday lunchtime they join us for lunch, eat with the children and play with them. This has been a huge success in our school it gives the children the an opportunity to spend time with people of an older generation, the Grandfriends are so very skilled at introducing the children to games and sometimes just spending time talking to them. More recently our Grandfriends are helping in the library and listening to children read. We are so very grateful for the extra pairs of hands and the and care that comes from these wonderful people.
Grandfriends recognises that older adults are a vital but underutilised community asset. We know from research and from our own experience that huge mutual benefits arise from friendships between people of different generations.
